Have just purchased a cyrus 3 amp which i am really pleased with it coming from my technics av amp. Its bee a while since i had proper hi fi kit in my system and i had forgot how large the gap between hi fi and av.

The main qualities of the cyrus 3 i have found is detail, clarity, timing, bass control and great stereo imaging.

I am using the cyrus 3 with this some mission m73 floorstanders (to be upgraded at some point, maybe rega 3 or b&w 684) and a pioneer 575a dvd player and am now itching to add a real cd player to see what the cyrus 3 has really got in the locker.

I quite fancy picking up a cyrus dad3 cd player which can be had cheap and it will work with same remote and fit easily into my av rack. But i was wondering how this will stack up against the more modern arcam cd73.

I listen to mostly 60/70s rock (beatles, zeppelin, cream, hendrix) white stripes.

Any more opinions on the dad 3?

just been and bought some banana plugs for my cyrus 3 and they dont fit. Does anyone know what i need?

I literally dusted off my (maybe 25 year old, I honestly can’t remember) dad3 today to try in my current system, just for fun… sounds great, very bass heavy, warm sound, I’m using it with Accuphase amplification and Devore Fidelity speakers.

Nice to know, and nice set-up.
However none of the original posters in this thread have been seen for at least five years.
just in case you were expecting a reply from them that is......

Not expecting a reply, but got one! Lol. I have other old kit, and often look at the very old posts because they’re relevent. Maybe, someone else will do the same one day….

Agreed, they are certainly worth looking at.
No offence meant but sometimes people dig up these posts and expect an answer from the OP who might not have been seen for 10 years..... 🙂
