i'm not an expert but i'm basically doing my homework on system matching and i think i've hopefully come up with a set-up that will match my sonic taste's(obviosley i'll try to demo at some point). the set-up ive come up with is the cyrus cd6se paired with the Yamaha A-S1000. i'm after a set-up that has all the excitment of the cyrus, like the dynamics timing ect but has the richness and bass power of the yamaha. i already own a pair of bowers and wilkins 685's which i do not want to part with and recently purchased some quality stands(partington broadside). in your opininon what would the resulting sound be? thank you.

Try it out, have a listen, if I were shopping for an amp in that price range, the Yammy'd be on my list somewhere near the top. Their new 2-channel gear looks impressive and seems to be getting quite a few thumbs-up. The AS-700 (the next model down) is apparently very good, with a neutral bias to it, so this characteristic may carry through. There might be a WHF review for it, so worth checking that section on this site too.

Well, if the S1000 is anything like the neutral S700, then this won;t be too much of a problem. If, on the other hand, it is a warmer sounding amp, then that might be a positive impact on the Cyrus which are sometimes felt to be lean or clinical sounding. It depends how you want your music to sound. I'd still shortlist the Yamaha and try and demo them together.

this may be the perfect combination for me. i'm intrigued to find out what happens when you mix and match awarm, rich sounding amp like the yamaha with the cyrus. i might just book an appointment with my local sevenoaks and find out. it would be great if anyone has heard this combo together to let me know, cheers.
