Cyrus 8VS

Hello and greetings to Everyone,

This is my first post, even though i have been reading for about 6 weeks or so.

I have a Cyrus 8VS amplifier, and recently bought the newly releases Spendor A5 speakers. Boy these speakers excellent for the size and money.

I would like to upgrade my Sony CD player to something that would be a good match for the Cyrus. I would like your recommendations to alternatives to Cyrus 8X CD etc. From what i have read Cyrus CD players although pretty good are too bright and lacking bass.

While writing this i am listening to Nina Simone The Best. Here comes the sun, superb.

Well I really think the CD8SE will be a great match. Can you not demo the player and see if you like it??

Personally I do not find the Cyrus bright or lacking in bass.

My first audition would be the rather cracking Arcam CD37 for £1k and maybe the Roksan Caspian M Series. I think their presentation might suit the Spendors rather well!

Agree with the Messiah - you should be able to demo this set-up at a local Sevenoaks for instance and it would be interesting to hear how you rate with the new Spendors.
