When I look at Creek website, I can see a switch (115/230V) on the back of the Evo 50a. I just received my unit (the US) but my unit does not have it even though the manual says the voltage is switchable. I just want to be sure I can use this unit in Europe the future...

Thanks!

I know I could use something like this:

https://www.voltageconverters.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VC500W

However, is this a good solution?

I would have said if you expected switchable voltage and you did not get it then take it back to the dealers or wherever you got it from but I think you have a problem here because it is set up for the US.

The one with switchable voltage is designed for Europe where the mains voltage runs at 50Hz.

In the States iot is running at 60 Hz, I think this is why amp is not switchable on US bound versions.

Going off topic a bit, but 50/60Hz shouldn't really be an issue. e.g. Japan uses both 50 and 60 depending on which part of the country you are in, but maybe all electrical products here are built to deal with this.

If that is the case it begs to question why Creek don't make all their amplifiers with a switchable voltage stage, why single out the US market.

Perhaps some sort of US regulations or idiot proofing?, who knows.

I found it. The switch is located on the bottom of the unit in version 2 (not on the back as per pictures on Creek website). All good now:)

I did:) There is no info about that in the manual.

Now I need to get a separate CD Player. I am thinking about Evo 50CD when available. I am also taking into consideration Oppo BDP-95 or BDP-105. I used to own Oppo in the past, and I liked it...

I use an Oppo 105EU as it is one of the most flexible devices I know. Plus it sounds brilliant with all sources. Anyone who spends upwards of £1000 on a pure CD player must be mad. :)

Very bad idea by Creek not mentioning where the voltage switch is placed - I would have thought this critical, you could have fried the amp.

This should have been on Page 1. ...... bad show Creek.
