Hi! been googling to find an answer but failed, wondering if anyone could advise! Do amps need space above them for cooling? Looking at buying my first one, was looking at the onkyo 608, but space in tv cabinet would mean it would be sliding literally with mm to spare at top... is this a def no-go?

If yes, can anyone recommend a smaller amp for ~£500 max, with 3d passthrough & all the usual hi def decoding, that can fit into a 7" high space with enough room for cooling air flow?!?! 🙂) All the recommended amps I can find seem to be ~7" themselves 🙁

Thanks, appreciate any advice! 🙂)

thanks! Checking out review now for that Marantz, looking good so far... it would leave 6cm clearance above the unit, and couple of cm's each side... in your experience is that ok? Or am I still cutting it too fine there...

As you probably notice I have the NR1501 (the non 3d predecessor).
I have it in an open rack so it gets air from all 4 sides so never had any problems. It's on quite a bit too as I watch normal tv with the amp on as well
