It would be good if you had a page on consumer rights, as there always seem to be conflicting reports on what you can and cant do when something goes wrong. Some shops will go on about company policy but if a product is under 6 months old and goes faulty through no fault of your own, then you can ask for a replacement or your money back.

I think you're highlighting your own point here

You can certainly ask for a replacement or your money back, but I'm afraid you're not automatically entitled to receive it. The 6 months thing is often misunderstood. What it usually refers to is that within 6 months, the onus is on the retailer to prove the goods are satisfactory. After 6 months, it falls to the customer to prove they're unsatisfactory.

So if you took a 3 month old product back, and wanted a refund, the retailer would have to be unable to prove that the goods were of satisfactory quality/fit for purpose/etc. In most cases it's fairly simple to do this, and your chance of a refund is fairly slim.

But I fully support the idea of a consumer advice article, as it'd help to address the amount of misinformation on the net. Mostly coming from places like HotUKdeals
