Hi. I want to connect my PC wirelessly to my HiFi (Cyrus pre and power amps and CD player, Spendor speakers). I am not interested in streaming music from Itunes or Windows Media: for that I have the original CDs and a Wadia Ipod dock. But there is a fantastic resource of music available on YouTube and it is this music that I want to hear over my hifi, not my computer, whilst watching the music video on my good quality PC screen. So really what I am asking is what PC/ HiFi wireless connectivity devices will stream all the audio from the PC and not just that produced by Itunes. Why wireless? Quite simply because my computer is at one end of the room and the HiFi the other.

Assuming this is possible (and all I can find is products that will stream music from Itunes/ Windows Media) I obviously want as high quality audio sound as possible. My budget is around £400.

iirc the highest bitrate on youtube is only 192kbps, so really really not worth spending 400 squid on. something like this should be fine http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/wireless-pc-to-stereo-audio-transmitter-a24gu

review here http://www.trustedreviews.com/maplin-wireless-pc-to-stereo-audio-transmitter_Portable-Audio_review

actually it can be higher, but that all depends on the uploader, which most peopl don't bother with

You could put something like a USB aptX (or other bluetooth std) dongle on your PC and a similar receiver on the HiFi end. Or, simplest of all plug a small tablet stright into the amp and play your youtube on that.

I would also worry about possible delays in any kind of 'add on' wireless setup. You could easily get out of sync with the video.

Re-arange your room...... ;)

One of these (which has both digital and analogue outs):

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Bluetooth-Technology-Smartphones-Bluetooth-Enabled/dp/B00DSNWM2K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391701057&sr=8-1&keywords=belkin+hd

Plus a bluetooth dongle for the PC

Total spend under £35. As has been said £400 is silly money for youtube quality audio.

I have the Belkin receiver and it's perfectly fine for spotify from my phone or tablet.

Do either of you know if they maintain sync with video.

I would expect some degree of latency but it might be acceptable, any views?

I notice in one of the reviews of the Maplin transmitter, that the user got the same problem with it that I found with my rDAC kw when using the wireless function from a laptop. Namely, although the sound is good, it virtually wipes out my internet on the laptop. From 50 mbps it dropped to less than 1 mbps with the dongle fitted, and streaming Spotify and Youtube on the laptop was impossible.

Hi Jeremy,

There are certainly a number of ways that you can do this, all with varying degrees of quality. We use these in store, to stream Spotify, they work a treat and also sound great too:

Do you own an ipad ? , that will stream audio from utube to an airport express , Screen size is abit small . Not sure if it would stream the video to an apple TV if you have a TV between your speakers . you also get spotify free on mobile devices now . iphone will stream aswell , but that screen is WAY too small.

Of course if you dont have a pad already it kinda blows the budget

For the past few years I've used an Apple TV2 connected to a Fiio D3 Dac, which in conjunction with Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil software allows me to stream audio from different sources/applications on our laptop, typically Spotify but also Google (which would include Youtube) etc. Airfoil allows your laptop to transmit to any Airplay enabled device, so you could actually send it directly to the likes of the Marantz all in ones etc, if you happened to have one.
