connecting an ipod to a stereo

anyone any advise on what will give the best sound quality - is it best to buy an ipod dock and connect using interconnects or just buy a really good quality 3.5mm to rca cable?

Best way is to use something like this for the line out to avoid the iPods internal headphone circuitry.

thanks for that - just ordered one although out of stock - do you know what the dfference is between the phonos and ultra plate?

Don't know precisely but it sounds like RA spin on overpriced RCA connections. I'd just go for the normal RCA.
