Hi, I'm looking for a pair of desktop speakers that I can use with my DAC / Headphone Amp .I don't want them loud as I'm close to them but I need to plug my DAC into them .Any Ideas? Thanks.

I don't really understand - surely they'd only be too loud if you turned them up too loud...

As JD originally said though, an idea of how much you're looking to spend is key here really.

What I mean by too loud is I'm using them as Desktop Speakers and I barely have them on , and basically they are too loud.My budget is up to £100, but I must be able to use my DAC with them.Thanks.

These PC speakers are rather good for their price and for what they are...

They have an 'aux in' socket which you can attach to your DAC with a cheap, simple RCA 2xPhono -> 3.5mm minijack cable.

We use these little speakers on one of our upstairs systems and they are fine at low volumes as well as cranked up a little.

For around £90 per pair (from most places) M-Audio AV-30 speakers are excellent too. (RCA phono inputs on the rear to plug staight into your DAC)

I have heard the AV-30s in a local music shop and they were rather impressive for the money. (Nicely made and finished with smart black wooden cabinets and very compact.)

I am not sure why this is an issue. Perhaps I am missing something? Can you not control the volume from the DAC or PC?
