I have an Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320mb version connected via a DVI to HDMI cable to a Panasonic 42PZ81 and can run run at full 1080p resolution so you're not necessarily tied to a card with an HDMI socket. If you are trying to obtain the absolute best possible picture quality I'm sure others on the forum will be able to give you some advice on the advantages (if there are any) of using HDMI to HDMI, and more expensive cables. I'm no purist and I'm perfectly happy with the picture quality running through a cable I got for £30 at Maplin. In my opinion, if you are using it for looking at photo's then you will not need an expensive card as any card should be able to handle that, but if you want to watch videos, especially hi-def ones, then a more expensive card may be in order. You can get very capable cards for £100 these days. Something like the ATI Radeon HD 4850 or the Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 (a quick look at Dabs tells me these can be had for around £100) will do the job and give you the option of watching video and even playing games if you should fancy it.
