his tap dancing Jack Russell.

Think you'll find he's an artist, rather than an artiste...

Have to admit, even if I had a Blu-Ray player, I wouldn't buy the box-set. I love some of the Bonds but dislike the "I want to be a very serious Timothy" films. To me Bond will always be packed with whacky gizmos, cheesey one-liners, the outrageous cars...

You don't like the Daniel Craig films then? The Dalton films had all the elements you mention, they just didn't have a man in his 60s playing Bond...

Only seen Casino Royale (hope I'm not confusing it with David Niven's pastiche). No.

Pierce Brosnan and Roger 'is that my real name or a boast' Moore are my favs, and the tail-end Charley is that geezer from Australia.

Bond isn't about clever dialogue or even meaty storylines, IMO, it is pure Boys Own adventures.

Sledging down a mountain on a cello case isn't "boys own" enough for you?

Surely none of the Bonds did? Connery knocked it on the head when he was in his early 50s, and even Moore was 'only' 58 when he stopped, or was stopped. Both were a little younger than the character would have been at the time: the books suggest he was born around 1920-21, so he'd be just over 90 by now.

I was exaggerating (slightly) for comedic effect. Moore was well past his sell-by date, even before A View To A Kill, something which I've no doubt blu-ray will reveal quite adequately.

Amazon UK has a pre-order exclusive 'window', apparantly. And remember, when the Ultimate Edition DVDs came out, DVDs cost significantly more than they do today...

i do wonder will the price go up? I've stuck in a pre order anyway.. i think its listed as 199 dollars in the US with a SRP (standard retail price?) of 299 dollars!

i'll be delighted to get it for 89.99 - i wonder what size the cases are in the box - will they be standard blu-ray box sizes? cause the box will need to expand and i hate that.. be nice if you could just take out the films and throw away the box..

i was kinda miffed there was no announcement of individual releases as i have 9 of the films already but to add the other 13 would probably cost more than the buying the box set - and i can offset the cost by selling the 9 i have..

Anyway its going under the christmas tree for me.. man only took it down last saturday and already looking forward to unwrapping that pressie :)

Cheers,

Mick
