Hi,

I have a trusty Arcam Alpha 8 amp and CD player. I previously had a pair of Mission 774s (which I adored) but since moving I just didn't have space for them. I'm after suggestions for compact speakers that will live in a bookcase against a wall and will perform well with my old Arcam gear, the smaller the better. I have a budget of around ~£800.

Thanks!

Shaun.

I would probably be looking at Dali (Zensor 1/Mentor Menuet) or the Rega RS1. The Dali's are designed to be put close to a rear wall, and highly recommended.

If you want very small/compact then then best I can think of are the Dali Mentor Menuet's - Superb speakers and sound fantastic:

I've heard these with an Arcam Alpha 9 and they were in a shelving unit (all be it stuck down with blu-tac) and they're sublime. Not the deepest of soundstages but very articulate and nimble!

For the lower end I'd agree that the Rega RS1's would be a good fit; the Dali Lektor 2's would be worth demoing as well.
