Take a look at Beyer-Dynamics. I've got a pair of DT770PRO which are closed back and I absolutely love them. Actually I prefer them to my Sennheiser HD595 open back 'phones.

How much do the Beyers leak sound? If you are listening in a quiet bedroom, even closed backed headphones can leak sound that would be heard and could annoy someone trying to get to sleep. According to What Hifi the Senn HD380s hardly leak sound, but I see in the new magazine they have dropped to 4 stars. In the past a review stated they were the best closed backed headphones they had heard for a while.

well my AKG's never turned up - so recently picked up a pair of Senn HD 280 cheap and they have just arrived and are sat on my desk and should have my Firestone Supplier waiting at home to play with.

Have a look at the Ultrasone HFI range. I have the HFI780 which are a little above your budget (I paid £125 about 18 months ago and they've gone up since). They leak very little sound and sound very very good. Perfect for use around others and appear to be very popular on another headphone forum with those who like to listen whilst someone is asleep nearby.
