Clearer audio mains block

Was looking on the clearer audio website and found out they have a 4 way mains block for £65.00.

Wondered if anyone had it, what they thought of it and if WHF had any plans to review it

you can get a tacima CS929 6 Way Mains Conditioner off ebay for approx £24 (P&P included) ... not sure how it compares?

I bought the 6-way copper-line-alpha mains block from clearer audio. Apart from I had the cable upgraded to copper-line as I was connecting some copper-line and silver-line cables to it. Its a far superior build to the lindy £20 block you can get from amazon (I have one of those as well). You can plug in high voltage components like amps (which is not advisable with lindy type mains blocks). I'm sure Darren from CA will explain in more detail but from a laymans point of view it will be £65 well spent.

I'm going to order one of these in afew days, same setup as you (with the clopper line, replacing the copper line alpha on the hub)

Also with 2 copper line power leads, one for cd player and other for amp.

Am quite interested to hear the results.

Danmo - Just allow some time (2-3 weeks) for them to burn in. When i first used them (on my home cinema kit) I could immediately tell a difference with the amp, and not so much with the other components. But after time the difference was quite apparant. I understand the difference on a CDP and amp is more marked than with home cinema kit but even so be a little patient before you make up your mind. You will have a 60-day money back guarantee anyway.

I know this is going to open the whole can of worms about mains blocks and conditioners but from a personal experience of reasonable kit like you have, it may well be worth looking for products where the conditioner is in paralel and not in series like the Clearer audio product you mention. It does mean a little more expense but will reward you with a huge improvement in sound. I'm no expert but the product web sites all mention that serial conditioners simply roll off the high end and compress the base. They also can detract from the sound when connecting an amplifier because you are introducing more impedance in the circuit path.

IDT - I'm quite happy with the products I have. I know what you are saying. For a few quid more you can have a huge gain. And to be honest that's why I (and most people I would imagine) buy these accesories. Better cables, better speaker stands, better av furniture, all to squeeze that extra few percent out of our much loved kit.

I'm no expert either but I know that if a product came out that 95% of people agreed gave a 20% improvement for an additional 1% in cost then I would probably buy it, I'll be honest I do struggle to tell the differences between one quality cable over another in the same price bracket. But I do acknowledge that a £100 cable will make more of a difference than a £20 one (depending on the quality of kit its attached to).

However I also do think its much harder to see a difference in the difference an accessory makes and the difference say a different better quality component makes ( a better cd player for example).
