I'm interested in the reviews that the Sony KDL32v4000 seems pretty similar to it's far more pricey Sony KDL32w4000. It also seems at a bargain price at the mo. I was wondering about it for a second tv for the bedroom. How does it compare with the much favoured panasonic th37px80 in terms of quality for general viewing?

If you can fit in/afford the Panasonic, go for it - it's a superior set. Nothing wrong with the Sony in the budget 32in LCD TV it keeps (far from it!), but the TH37PX80 is in a different league.

Clare how would you compare the Th-37PX80 with the Samsung LE40A656? Also from your experience between plasma and lcd which usually suffers more from dead pixels?

The Samsung is another great set, but if it were my money i'd bag the Panasonic (or save up for one of the pricier Samsung, Sony or Philips LCDs). And dead pixels remain, in my experience, a total lottery.

thanks for the reply Clare, I find it amazing how the panasonic even with its low res manages to keep up full 1080p sets. I already bought the th-37px80 and when I watched dark knight on blu-ray last knight my faith was restored in WHF reviews. The only reason I am considering switching it for the Samsung le40a656 is for pc use as I find the panasonic struggles to produce a bright white screen for web browsing. I will be taking my panasonic back instore on monday to exchange it (faulty right speaker) so I have tomorrow to make my mind up.

Thanks for getting back to me. Think the 37" may be a little big in the bedroom, but may be worth it from your comments. I see that the Sony kdl32w4000 is now available just under £600 which this site raved about. Would that be pretty similar to the 37px80, or is the panny still a far superior set even to the more expensive 32" sony?

Why not get a Pana 32px80,there a bargain from Richer sounds at the moment
