Clare, thanks for the reply to my previous questions, I'll have a look at the review of the Sony 40W3000 when I receive my mag this week, have been a subscriber for years. Do you think I should go ahead with the purchase of the Arcam AVR300 (brand new form Sevenoaks for £650) or keep my Arcam A80 and add a chepaer AV amp, perhaps Denon or Cambridge Audio, music is important. I plan to listen to new speakers when/if I pick up the AVR300. I have around £800 for new speakers (I have a REL Q150 sub), the rears need to be small and I prefer floorstanders (wife thinks the look more like a piece of furniture compared to standmounters). Was thinking KEF iQ5se, iQ2c (or centre from KHT3005) and pair of sats from KHT3005. Maybe Monitor Audio RS5, RSLCR and the R45's from the radius range. Any other you would recommend and which would work best with the AVR300? Also a quick question again about the Sony 40W2000, as I can get it for £860 delivered do you think this is the best buy for the money or should I wait and pay more for the 40W3000? Whats the RRP on the 40W3000? Thanks in advance Clare. Anybody else with any thoughts???????????

Hi Brian
I'd suggest sticking with your A80 for music. The AVR300 is good at music for an AV amp, but it isn't in the same league as the A80. Try the Onkyo TX-SR605 (£400) or its cheaper relative, the TX-SR505 (£250) for your multichannel needs. They're both excellent.
Have a listen to both the KEF and Monitor Audio speaker packages, I doubt whether you'd be disappointed by either. Just remember to stick with the full size centre speaker for the KEF package. It'll sound better than that from the KHT3005 range, though we wouldn't be so critical when it comes to surround duties.
As for the TVs: the 40W3000 is listed at around £1900, though we're sure that price will drop over time. It is a better set than the 40W2000. Audition one to see if you think the improvements are worth the extra money.

Thanks for your suggestions Ketan. Not sure what to do with the Arcam AVR300, it's a good buy at £650, probably get around £350 for my A80 which would go towards new speakers. The 1 box set up appeals at it would make things easier for my wife, have tried to explain how it works with a seperate AV amp and integrated amp before.
Is the sound of the AVR300 still well below the A80 in stereo even by using the 2 spare channels to bi-amp the fronts?
Will the 40W2000 be withdrawn soon? I'll probably go with the 40W2000 due to the price, roughly £800 compared to a rrp of £1900 for the 40W3000.

I think the A80 is better at playing stereo music than the AVR300 (even in biamp form). However, if you want a 1 box solution the AVR 300 remains one of the most musical around. I suspect the Sony 40W2000 will be gone pretty soon.
