Cinema amp faulty

Hello.Is it possible for cinema amp to become faulty after quite a few years on its back.........when watching sky the picture starts flickering and breaks up.Thought it was the sky box so got a new box from sky but it still flickers the same. The blue ray picture has also started to flicker. I have now plugged the hdmi cable straight from the sky box to TV and the flickering has stopped.

Could be an issue with the HDMI board. Happens often if it is a onkyo. You send it back for service and they will replace the HDMI board for too much money.

Disclaimer : I honestly don't intend to deride the onkyo. But I read on several forums that a particular batch of onkyo AVR's had faulty HDMI boards, that kept failing. So just suggested based on that hunch. And it is not my personal opinion.

Thanks for the reply.No it's a Sony 2400Es. Was thinking about getting a replacement anyway. But it's all about the money really.

very good. But if you plan on changing your avr. What would be looking at. Do you need Atmos or just a 5.1 system.

Was thinking about a Yamaha that was 500 but now 300 at Richer sounds.
