Took the plunge... And for a number of reasons went for an Ortofon 2M Red. Supplied by the always wonderful Cymbiosis, who offered to fit for free. As I wanted it now (I'm a big child, i know) I have fitted it myself. And it was a hell of a lot easier than I had feared....

Wow! I hoped there might be a difference but it is like I've bought a new turntable..... Sitting listening now to Placebo's Loud Like Love on double vinyl and it is like the man himself Mr. Molko is in my hifi room!!!!

Bass is a little tighter, mid range and top end a little brighter with more definition, and the vocals are just stunning..... I posted on here a while ago about being unsure if the premium on price for vinyl is worth it.....hmmmmm.....

Thanks to all on here who've given advice etc on this....

Excellent.

Next time you have a little cash do what I did with my old 2M Red ...

Go Blue! (Note the original 2M Red body.)

Pictured on my very last turntable (a Rega P2) some years ago and playing a blue copy of 'Autobahn' 🙂

Aye up Chris are you local to Cymbiosis ?? I guess Wayne fitted it - great guys there - I haven't been to there new place out of town yet but I have spent a lot of money there - if you build up a relationship they will loan stuff to you with out paying for it - they lent me so Neat speakers few years ago.

glad you got sorted with cart - but you will get addicted

Reasonably close Steve, used to be closer and we both moved in different directions....

Wayne wasn't available today so fitted it myself....

My speakers came from them, absolutely excellent they were, I was able to listen to loads of options for as long as I liked.... Can't praise them enough.

Good to hear you got it sorted, chuffed for you. +1 on what Chebby said
