Hello. I've noted how much folk enjoy a chat about speaker cable on this forum so thought I'd kick one off of my own. It's been quite reasonable recommended in a previous thread of mine that to perk up the sound of my Spendor A5's to change cable from Chord Carnival Silverscreen to Chord Odyssey. I've done some digging in the forums and for Spendors noted quite a few people backing that Spendors respond well to silver cable rather than copper. So, this is a step I'm looking to take. Chord Odyssey has been recommended but looking at prices etc I thought I'd fire a few questions: - does anyone have experience with Chord Rumour, and maybe even experience comparing this to Odyssey? They are both silver I think but Rumour is cheaper - any other cables that could be recommended? - My set up means I need 1 length at 1.5metre and the other at 3.5metre - should I buy 2 at 3.5metre or does it make no difference? Finally - If I go the silver route sounds like it would be best to follow suit with the interconnect for that I've got my eye on Chord Chameleon Silver plus on ebay - some previous gen versions (not VEE plugs) going for circa £20 which looks a good saving.

I think that you will find Chord Carnival Silverscreen is a copper cable and not silver, the silver refers to the outer screen and not the signal carrying inner conductor, a bit like the screen in a coax cable...............

I would be inclined to use Rumour with A5's. The Odyssey might just bring a little too much bass out of the A5's. I find the A5's fairly strong in the midrange, and if you brought the bass out a little more, they'll just sound a bit too warm and fuzzy with no real excitement at the top end.

Sospri is right - the Carnival Silver Screen is a copper cable.

Yeah, sorry - I know Silverscreen is copper - probabaly not clear enough in original post.

David - thanks for the response, might save a few quid then! Any other options you would recommend or on right track with Rumour? Also do you think safe to buy in not equal lengths?

if you don't need both cables of equal length you will save clutter and probably a lot of money. but re-sale value is substantially reduced. i have no idea if there is a performance difference...but i use 1m and 2m and never been advised that i would suffer audio degradation unless i bought equal lengths...
