Has anyone had any real-life experience of this cable? If so, what have you compared it with and how did it compare?

I'm currently using my ancient QED Silver Anni bi-wire on my system: Marantz PM7001 KI Sig, Marantz CD6000 OSE, Rogers LS55.

The PM7001 has opened up so much more energy in the speakers that I'm now considering changing the speaker cable too.

I've been offered some used Rumour 4 b/wire from a friend for £50, (muchos cheaper than normal) as he's upgrading to a cable costing him £800+. I can't compete :( so I've taken him up on the offer.

However, will this be a waste of £50?

I know I can't get even the QED Silver XT stuff for this money so should i not look a gift horse in the mouth?

Are there any reviews of the Rumour 4 and if so how did it fare?

[/quote] How long are the lengths for your £50? It's a very good cable. I have used Rumour 2 and now have Odyssey 4 - you can't knock Chord speaker cables in my opinion.

I have been using the single Rumour cable for a couple of years and love it. A couple of my local hi-fi shops use it in their demo rooms. Depending on the lengths you have got, sounds like a bargain.

Would the Odyssey 4 be better ?

Is there another bi-wire cable worth putting money on?

I have rumour 4, but with terminated as a single set of plugs (twi wires into each banana) between Cyrus and Dynaudio, and they're great. A huge improvement over my QED silver anniversary imo. I got them free with my speakers and was shocked at the price when I looked it up!

£50 sounds good, go for it. Then sell your other cable on a well known av forum classifieds or eBay, you'll recoup a decent slice of your outlay.

I use Odyssey 2 and spent a lot more money on it than that. It made a big difference so I would snap his arm off for it at that price.

Ok, sounds like a done deal then.

Thanks for your opinions

Hmm, I'm still pondering over this.

If the Rumour 4 is a lower spec/performing cable than the Odyssey 4, wouldn't this put it back in the Silver Anniversary Bi-wire territory? I've just seen this selling fro £9.75 per metre on fleabay.

So my point is....will I expect any better performance over the Silver Anni?

Maybe I should borrow them and plug em in to see before I buy.

Good point batman

At £50 you can't lose as you could sell either of your cables for more than that on fleabay, so it's a no-lose situation. Listen and see

You would be able to sell for enough profit to buy some Odyssey! - well almost. Rumour 4 is better than QED Silver XT in my opinion anyway.
