Hi ,

I have an oldSony CRT TV which works fine , but I want to replace it with the newer "smaller" screen , anything is smaller now than that <S>

http://www.tesco.com/direct/blaupunkt-39210-39-inch-full-hd-1080p-led-tv-with-freeview/130-0794.prd?sc_cmp=ppc_g_blaupunkt%20tv_p&gclid=CM2s6PzRkL4CFWsTwwodnVEAVw

Should I just jump at this to relalce my CRT , or keep my powder dry for a Sony ? I was planning 750 quid for a 42" Sony screen , love Sony TV 's but this seem too cheap to walk past

Thanks Big Boss ,

It's hard to tell looking at the specs or even the screens , set up / distance / the lights in the shop they always look pretty bad. I was looking at the Sony 42" today £629 with a 5 year warrenty , guess I'll wait another month and go for it .

I have a THX set up disc that I used on my CRT , I assume that'll be fine for setting up a LED screen .

HI BB ,

This one :

http://www.apollo2000.co.uk/showproduct/SON-KDL42W705BBU/W700B+Series+42+Full+HD+LED+Smart+TV+with+BuiltIn+WiFi+in+Black.html

Hi Gel they have the 55" version of that for £999 , £350 off kinda stops you at the door , but I dont want the 3D , would the 46" be better than the one above , for the extra £170 .

I do like Sonys , always bought them as upgrades , never had one die on me , when I saw the first one at 200 quid I wondered am I missing a bargin

The Sony you've picked out gets really good customer reviews:

http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-bravia-kdl42w7-led-hd-1080p-smart-tv-42-with-freeview-hd/p1169287

Thinking about it I would probably stick with that, and it's newer.

Ignore the 3D factor. It's not an issue, as most televisions are 3D-capable now. You don't have to use the 3D function.

The 46" Sony is an excellent buy at that price, though audition first to check that it suits.

The Samsung 6400 is worth looking at, too. The 40" is available for £400, while the 46" can be found for less that £600. Links to reviews below...

That'd be my shortlist within a relatively tight budget.

If you ask nicely, I'm sure Gel will hunt down the best possible deal on whichever model you choose!

Picked up the Sony tonight on the way home , sorry Gel got it from Tescos so 20 quid more than RS but I couldn't face the 1 hour round trip , 5 yr warranty so that's good.

Got it wired and fired and wow wow wow , re run the pioneer setup and cant seem to get anything but stereo now its HDMI , need to RTFM again I guess

Good TV Good advise , thanks y'all
