Cheap Power Amp and Bookshelf Speakers

Hi, i wanted to buy a cheap Power Amp and some Bookshelf Speakers for my PC and my Keyboard, i will be pre amping them with a Behringer MX400. This amp must also have a headphone amplifier, i need the system to be quite compact as i dont have much space, my total budget extends to around £350 but i am willing to spend upto £500 if needed or if there is a significant increase in performance. I usually listen to music from Paul Simon and Nanci Griffith, Bass is not a priority, but i don't want it to sound too cold.

Some Behringer or Yamaha actives and then a headphone amp? Makes sense to me....

Yeah, as you are looking for an amp plus speakers for desktop use it might be a good idea to have a look at actives (though you would then have to look for a cheap headphone amp).

On top of the aforementioned Behringers or Yamahas (the HS5 or HS7, depending on you available space), you might also want to check ADAM's F5 or A3X and maybe the ESI uniK 05.

Avoid the Yamahas. Treble is harsh.
