cheap but good,5.1 home cinema in a box?

hi does anybody know from any past issues if there is good sound and picture quality from a sub 300pounds 5.1 system or anywhere near that figure? im looking for a system for my dad ,he loves my surround sound seperates but wouldnt want to spend so much.hope some one has the knowledge.thank you.

If you can wait a couple of weeks, we're due to publish a Group Test of sub-£300 home cinema systems in our February issue, out January 10th. It will include systems from Sony, Samsung, LG and Panasonic....
