Cheap 4k or decent HD

Hi

I haven't bought a TV for 7 years so I'm a bit behind the loop. Am looking to spend around £500ish and want a TV around the 42inch size. What is my best option? The LG 42UB820V LED 4K Ultra HD is currently on offer at argos for £499, or for the size I'm buying is it best to stay away from 4k and buy something like the Samsung UE48H6400 (or something similar at 42inch)?

Thanks in advance

Adam

I'd go for the Samsung, 4K will make little if any difference at that size.

Go for the Samsung UE40H6400 or UE48H6400. I doubt whether you'll get the benefit from 4K at those relatively small sizes. The Samsung H6400 series gets very good reviews at all sizes.

Most importantly, DO NOT BUY FROM ARGOS.

You can get the UE40H6400 with a free 5 year warranty from Richer Sounds for £449.

Also consider the Sony KD-LW705B for £449 with free 5 year warranty.

Thoroughly agree about Argos comment. The only use of Argos is quoting them when getting a price match elsewhere, John Lewis for example.

You definitely can't go wrong with the Samsung UE48H6400. It's our favourite at that size (and it won our TV Product of the Year award a month ago). We tested it at £700 but it can now be had for about £500. It's worth going with companies like Richer Sounds or John Lewis, who offer decent warranties.

As much as we love 4K, there's still barely any content!

Thanks for the help with this. Unfortunaterly a trip to the vets ended up costing me £650, so my TV budget is no more... the dog best pick up its entertainment to make up for the lack of a decent tv.
