Hi All,

I have now added to my system, a pair of Kef reference 1s as front, bws 601 at rear and a MK sub, would a centre speaker enhance my system and if so what would you suggest??

Cheers

I'm assuming you're talking about a 5.1 surround system in which case a centre speaker is an absolute necessity rather than an enhancement!

KEF's UniQ driver is excellent at imaging, and if you're sitting in the hotspot, you will proably do quite well without one. But, if you're not in the hotspot, or more than one person wants to enjoy the system, a centre speaker will widen up the 'ideal' seating position. The main advantage is being able to adjust the centre channel level independently, which isn't possible when no centre is used.

Adding a centre speaker isn't something to take lightly though. You need something that's going to be good enough to keep up with the Reference 1's, and not stick out like a sore thumb. Track down a KEF Reference 200C - it's about a metre wide, but it's a very capable centre speaker, ideal for the Reference 1's.
