Recommendations for a good center speaker.
Looking at the ELAC Debut Reference speaker, for example

Going to need some real information. Budget? Other components? Center channel needs to match the rest of the speakers. Size of the room?

Thanks. I have:
1) Yamaha RX-A2020 receiver
2) Yamaha CD player CD-C600
3) Definitive Tech Subwoofer SC 4000
4) IMF Super Compact II speakers (British company-very old but excellent sound)
Budget-$300-500

Objective: hook up to a TV. Down the line, I may move the IMF's to the rear and buy tower speakers for the front.
Room size: 19' x 12' however, 10' of the 19' side is open to another room (no wall). Don't know if that is a factor or not.

Well you are going to have difficulty finding a centre speaker to match those.
As the centre does much to define the set-up as a whole buy the best you can afford.
Perhaps anort3 can help here as I have no idea what's available within your budget in your part of the world.
Are you in the States?
The Definitive Tech CS9040 might be available for your budget as you have their subwoofer
