Hi

Im new to the world of hi-fi and Im looking for a cd separate which will play mp3 tracks as well as normal cd tracks. Im not concerned if the player is new, as used is fine as my budget isnt too high. Ive had a look on ebay at some Denon/Technics/Nad stuff but none of them appear to be able to play mp3s. Is this generally the case with separates ?

Thanks

The Marantz CD6002 can play MP3 files. It's discontinued now but plenty of them are still available on Ebay and various online stores.

The NAD C565 does but it might be out of your price range. Also the Marantz CD6003 and Harmon Kardon HD980. There are plenty of them out there if you look hard enough.

The latest classic range from NAD does play mp3s. That is 515, 545 and 565. Budget from around 200-600 pounds. I'm sure many other brands support mp3 but most people prefer to play audio CDs through them for best sound quality.

You could also connect your Ipod/mp3 player direct to your amp, that is assuming you have one/both
