CD player for AV set up

I have a Denon 2900 dvd player hooked up to a Pioneer 2011 receiver with a B&W MT30 speaker package.

Toying with buying a dedicated cd player up to GBP 400 ish - say a CD73.

Would this be worthwhile with my other kit and would a dedicated player prove a good upgrade from the 2900?

You won't notice a great deal of quality with a dedicated cd player unless you have it connected to a dedicated stereo amp. I would carry on using the dvd player to be honest - certainly don't spend £400 on a player.
