what CD player would you pair with the Pioneer SC-LX81 or is a transport a better option, using the internal DAC's of the pioneer?

Thanks I have been thinking of getting a dedicated player. any other suggestions would be great.

I've tried my Marantz with both the analogue and digital outpus and didn't notice much of a difference but it is only a budget player. I don't use it anymore as I've connected a NAS and networked it to the receiver, I have noticed a difference with this and it is better than the player. I may try an external dac at some point from a media extender or something and also try it on the CD player as well.

Thanks, I was looking at using an external drive and doing the same but, I was thinking wouldn't the higher end cd player be better.

I am reading that a lot belive the external DAC is the way to go.

Can any of the gurus give me an idea??

You don't state what Blue Ray player you are using but Pioneers BDP-51FD is a decent enough cdp and with pioneers proprietary jitter reducing locking system (forgot the name) it should make a very good match with the companies AV/receivers. I believe that applies to all new pioneer BR players.

I am using a PS3 right now. it was better than my old HK cd player. I was going to do the BDP-51FD but the new Pioneers are coming out. they are avalible in North America. I am not sure what route to take

the 320 seems to be the replacement for the 51FD ( which is not being discontinued in North america)

and the 23FD seems to be the replacement for the BDP-05FD/BDP-LX71

Can't help you on your choice but spending a lot on a cdp with an AV Receiver is perhaps a bit of a waste. Pioneer seem to pay attention to the audio section on their BR players more than some others. As you have a Pioneer Receiver they probably would make a good match sonically and visually. Best of luck.
