Someone has very helpfully agreed to help me install a Denon cartridge on my Linn Akito arm. Can't decide between the dl-110 or 160 as it seems some people prefer the cheaper 110. Plus given the choice between red and blue my instincts as a Liverpool fan kick in. Anyway, I was thinking about taking the opportunity of buying some new cartridge wires. Anyone advise me on whether they make much difference and if so any recommendations?

I have a 110 and 160, and prefer the 110, (Thanks for the Harrow thing who ever- ordered another 110 this morning) I can not help with the cart tags though, I use a Rega arm and they are captive.

I use Oyaide pure silver on a Jelco arm, very nice. Nearly the price of the Denon though, I don't think I'd bother for a Denon DL110.

Is that based on its price or actually hearing it-- It more than holds its own against carts like the Sumiko BPS and Dyna 10 x 5. When first released the dennon was around £60, the equivalent Dyna (10x4 I think) was the same price. Somehow denons price has stayed where it was, the Dyna is what £300 now. (all IMHO- YMMV- etc etc)

Based on owning one, It's OK, but I find it's over hyped or maybe the rest of my kit is probably too revealing for it, it sounds like it's price to me.

That really says more about your attitued to kit than the denon fella. My kit is too good for it really is a strange thing to say, I have heard it on Projects into phone boxes, Mid range Rega's into all sorts of stages, and NAS hyper and SME IV, plus a few others in between. It just got better as the deck and arm got better. It may not be able to live with £500+ carts, but it can certainly stay with most up to £250 or so.

If you think it's good that's all that matters, I don't think it's that good, there are lots of cartridges that I prefer over the Denon, and as I said it's not up to the level of the rest of my kit and my kit shows it's weaknesses.

You rewired the arm? You must have more patience than me.

No, not the arm, just the tags with these

I like Japanese cables they are fanatical about sound quality.
