Hello a friend has noticed the sound from his turntable "has gone off".
He owns a Lenco L 400 BK TT. I'm not familiar with these.
The cart is audio technica, but I can't find any model number listed on line.
I've talked him through resetting the tracking force, but if this doesn't work he may need to replace his cart.
Any idea what it might be or what he might replace it with?

Could be an AT3600L looking at some of the images for that turntable. The stylus (ANT3600L) is on Amazon for £17 (UK). It is fairly distinctive if that is the correct model of cartridge.

Yes. After my own own search I also thought it was this one, or at least very similar. If he were to buy a new one, that's a very modest price. Would an upgraded AT stylus be interchangeable with his current cartridge body?

The L400 designation has been used on many turntables over the years, so we will need some more information to identify which one.
Here are some images which may help you to identify the cartridge.

This is the only image I have. It's not great and the cartridge isn't that clear.

Must be a high chance of it being the AT-95E.

I've never had any cartridge (including that model) go 'off' though 🤔

Maybe he just needs a new stylus.

His words not mine.
He's not an audiophile in any shape or form.
I haven't seen the deck.
I described the process of resetting up a cartridge over the phone.
It wasn't until halfway through that I realised our interpretation of "turn the counter balance anticlockwise" was very different!

That said. He did say he thought the sound had improved a bit, so that felt good.

I agree that a new stylus is probably the way to go. (y)
