Hi Guys

Got my NaimUniti at last this week - listening to AVRO Klassiek Film on iradio at the minute and it sounds great.

I do have a problem though. I have not been able to stream anything from my Mac to the Uniti. i have installed eyeconnect as mentioned elsewhere on these pages and it sees the Uniti all right but when i select upnp on the Uniti it searches but can find no servers.

Any ideas you might have would be appreciated

Cheers

Ok. getting freaked out now.

the uniti, macbook and router are all in the same room. the network is wireless. rebooted the uniti and the router. i disconnected the uniti from the network and when i tried to reconnect it wont accept my password. On the last try, i entered the wrong password and it connected!!! I am back listening to internet radio. still wont connect to my macbook over upnp though. when i open eyeconnect on the laptop it has the uniti listed along with the correct IP address. Still says "no servers" on the uniti when i select pc on the remote.

I imagine i am making a simple error somewhere but just cant figure where.

Update

I uninstalled and reinstalled eyeconnect (version 1.6.7) and the uniti has picked up my library/server.

according to the display, the track i selected is playing (stream info 41.1 KHz WAV) but no sound at all

I am getting closer!

thanks JD

I have had some success. i can play some files but only AAC and not WAV. basically any music i bought through itunes will play but not anything i ripped in apple lossless?

(obviously no need to try the network wired as it is playing some files)

The Uniti won't play apple lossless streamed from a UPnP server, only from an iPod plugged into the USB slot. Therefore, you need to transcode it to WAV - go into Eyeconnect in System Preferences and stop it, click on 'Plug ins', and make sure the 'Audio to WAV/LPCM Transcoding Service' is enabled, then start the server again. Eyeconnect will then stream WAV instead of ALAC to the Uniti, and it should play.

Hi JD

I have followed your instructions for eyeconnect and restarted it but no change. I am still only getting sound on AAC files. When i play a WAV file the uniti looks like it is playing it (elapsed time etc) but still no sound?

BTW thanks for all your help with this.

No problem, but I'm now a bit stuck. What happens if you convert a WAV file to apple lossless and try to stream it through Eyeconnect? I'm trying to work out whether this is a bandwidth problem or not...

Would a media server like isedora not solve your problems? You can download a trial that will work for 60mins to test it.

It will stream all formats the Uniti supports, and transcode those it doesnt into LPCM.
