Cant burn an audio cd

Hi folks.

My disk drive in my laptop is playing up.

I can burn dvds,both video and data. I can burn mp3 cds aswell but when I try to burn an audio cd it gets to about 40 - 50% then says burn process has failed. It does this with all the software ive tried includong Nero and Roxio.

Its driving me mad. It was working fine. I burned one audio cd and went to do another and its having none of it. Ive ruined about ten discs. No new software has been installed.

Any advice greatly recieved!

I've only ever had problems with rubbish discs - what brand are you using?

Try a slower speed. My Mac with Toast always keels over at x8 or higher.

Patience is a virtue.

Ive used Maxell, Verbatim and Tescos own.Ive used them all before and had no problems with any of them. Ive tried burn speeds from as low as 4x and it always does the same.

Its 'doin ma nut in' as we say up here!

I have always used windows media 11, no problems apart from dodgy discs, had a full tray of them once, was not impressed, but hey.

Might just be worth trying some different software. Had this sort of problem about 6 months ago so I downloaded "Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 free" and not had a problem since.

As other people have said also burn a lower speed rather than trying to max it out.
