I don't know how anybody else feels but i get incredibly frustrated if i have to wait more than a few months for anything, i just get too excited.

Thats because your an impluse buyer, use to be like you.

No. Because the average TV doesn't really need to be any more than 1080p. Anyone wanting a big screen for movies should be looking at a projector. The day I buy a 4K TV will be one where there is no other choice.

I wouldn't buy a tv anytime soon then.

You don't really need a reason to buy anything gel! 😉
*smile*. My wallet is zipped now.

I've heard it before. *SCRATCH*
No, really really this time. I have my headphones now, so there is no reason to buy anything. I have a lot of birthday and Xmas presents too. I have saved a bit this year too, so it's all good. *smile*

That puts the final nail in the coffin for 4K then. I won't budge now.

I will hang on to my plasma for as long as I can! If loads of 4k Blurays come out, then I will be looking at a projector and will be in our new extension by then...

At 4K last year's models like the Sony Bravia KD75S9005BBU come to mind, or maybe the Samsung UE75HU7500, for instance here http://www.hiwayhifi.co.uk/samsung-ue75hu7500txxu-uhd-led?http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=4388&id=137991 . Both these outgoing 75-inch 4K sets cost about £5,500 to £6,500, so the issue then is, is that worth the extra cost over a 75-inch 1080p model, bearing in mind that 75" is very big but not, in my room at least, impossibly vast. By the way, I certainly won't be gettting one of the new 2015 sets at 75 inches because they cost too much just now.

The thread was started because it was in relation to a WHF news story saying there are 9 reasons to buy a 4K TV to buy now. I was just curious to see what the members on here made of that.

Maybe to watch a 4K Blu-ray
Yep, that's a good one, although I think a demo watching 4K Blu-Rays will be on the agenda first.

I saw the 85" B&O BeoVision Avant yesterday and it was absolutely gorgeous. Notwithstanding its spec being a little lacking.

Nice one! Where did you see that?

There is a B&O store close to me. I was primarily interested in seeing some of the other brands they carry (namely McIntosh and Sonus Faber) but I was drawn to the Avant as soon as I saw it.

I think the debate around 4K TVs has parallels with the one that happened when moving to HD. Some people could not notice much of a differnece and there was a reluctance to repurchase movies that were already owned on DVD. Speaking from my experience, I only repurchased a very small proportion of movies on Blu-Ray.

The Hollywood machine keeps on rolling and all it usually takes is a 'killer app' to convince people to upgrade. When I saw some 4K movies demoed on Sony's media server, I was sold on the format. It is just a case of waiting for the specs to be finalised (HDR etc.) I am watching Sony's 2015 range of TVs with interest.

Ah nice one, thanks.

Ah, so. Actually I had seen this news story before you started this thread, but somehow it went out of my mind! It might have been an idea to have given this link in your first post when you started the thread.

As to the points in the article, I agree with them, especially about the four reasons NOT to buy a 4K TV just now! *blum3* That probably won't stop me though!
