Hi,

I just got a pair of Monitor Supreme 800 floor-standing loudspeakers (2.5-way bass reflex with double bass, recommended amplifier output 30-320 watt). Now, I'm looking for a decent budget friendly stereo amplifier that can drive them for my first beginner-level hi-fi system (my budget is 250 euro max.)

Stereophile and The Absolute Sound magazines recommend NAD C 316BEE (45 watt, €240) and Marantz PM5004 (40 watt - 8 ohm RMS, €230) amplifiers.

My simple question is: can I use these amplifiers that have 40 watt outputs to get a good sound from Magnat 800 floor-standing speakers? (Magnat recommends minimum 30 watt, max 320 watt)

Or I should get Denon PMA-520AE (70 watt, €175) or Pioneer A30 (70 watt, €230) instead?

Thanks, Berk,

-Any beginner-level amplifier recommendations would be more than welcome for these speakers.

I would get the Pioneer A-30 (I have one myself) and it will drive your speaker without any problems. The sensitivity of your speakers is 92 db........no problem for most amplifiers.
