OK...I'm hoping someone can give me some good news. I recently shelled out a decent whack on a new panasonic full HD plasma. Then, one week ago, I've was offered the chance to move to Australia for my dream job..... question is.. will the TV work out there if I ship it across? Thanks

listen mate get real it makes no sense at all paying all that money to ship a tv the other side of the world, the chances are it will get damaged and if it is quite new then sell it and put the money towards a new one once there, if it is your dream job it must pay well and with selling the old one and the money you save shipping it you can buy a new one I am sure that makes more sense.

Because everyones dream job is a job that pays well, if he is going all the way there it must pay well, I bet he will earn enough money in 1 week to buy the same tv

Pretty cynical point of view. My dream job would pay considerably less than what I earn at the moment, but it would be a job that I really loved.

I wish that I had the same problem. I feel sorry for all the others that applied for the Dream Job and didn't get it...
Why don't you spread the love and give your new panasonic full HD plasma to one of your hard working colleagues that didn't get the dream job?
It would solve your problem, make someone else happy and provide you with good Karma for the forthcoming Dream Job... Just a thought.
Only question is who do you give it to...

Cant disagree more - we're WAY behind on most models here so he may not be able to get the one he has currently in Aus - plus he'll definitely pay more too - small population, less competition - more $$$'s. Pack it back in the shipping box it came in - get one from Pana if you chucked it and make sure your container is insured (you're shipping more than just the tv right?). Get a new mains lead when you get here and you're good to go. We never lost one thing except an old broom when we moved to Melbourne - and we only lost that to quarantine as it had some dirt on it supposedly. We shipped all of our furniture, a pc with monitor, stereo gear, appliances, crockery, ornaments, pictures (glass) etc etc. At the end of the day, do you think the tv was made in the UK? It was shipped from Japan or China most likely so its been round the world once already.
Check with Pana as the sound transmission (on analogue only) is different here (digital is the same) and I know when I moved in 2000 I had to sell my old analogue tv - BUT, I'm pretty sure that most tv tuners these days are global kit so more than likely should be ok - just double check with Panasonic. If you dont need the analogue tuner then dont worry about it as we use the same DVB-T as Europe for digital - and all free to air channels have HD with DD5.1 and Sky is just the same, just called Foxtel; so something to look forward to. Good luck with the job too - I was in the same position in 2000 and it all worked out well for me. Where you coming to in Aus?
