Can I improve the sound of DAB?

Hi

I've had an Arcam Solo for some time, and have finally got around to fitting a DAB aerial. Trouble is, the sound quality is very disappointing - bright and compressed. I suspect that's just the nature of DAB but is there any way I can improve it?

I have a simple dipole aerial but am in a strong signal area and the strength bar runs from 3/4 to 4/4.

Cheers

DAB quality varies from station to station, but in general many stations run at fairly low bitrates, which impacts on the sound quality. There's nothing you can do to improve the sound of such stations.

..but you can get an FM tuner and the possibilities are endless!

Unlike the number of stations. But yes.

Freeview/Cable is another option, but kind of obviates your one-box Solo solution. Internet radio is often higher bitrate than DAB, and could be streamed discreetly to the Solo using an Airport Express...........
