Hi all, just joined hoping to get some advice...
I have a PS3 for Bluray and a Panasonic 42" plasma HDTV. Also got Sky+ on there. All sound is through the TV. Been fedup missing great sound for ages so want to get a better sound/speaker system. I have looked around and looks like to get a decent system will cost a few bucks so was wondering if I can do it in stages.... i.e. get just a 2.1 system now, then later on like in a few months get an amp and then further down the line the extra 3 speakers for full surround. If so I am unsure what's the best way to do this...
- Are all speakers compatible with all amps in case I get different surround speakers in future from the 2.1 I get now, or do I need to make sure they are a good match?
- What will the difference be between getting just 2.1 now or a 2.1 with an amp? Not interested in volume, only quality and clarity so will an amp do this, or is only for volume?
- Should I get the amp when I get the surround speakers and just go for 2.1 now?
If I can do this, I am sure its been asked many times, but what would be a decent entry level speakers and amp, so good sound for a decent price, like £100/£150 for 2.1, no more than £300/£400 for 5.1 with amp. Is that possible??? I am a newbie so I don't need the top of the range, I just want better sound than the TV for an affordable price!
Note: I am not interested in volume, just sound quality and clarity - at the moment sometimes I can't here vocals have to turn it up to then have to turn it down when music or ads come on. I can be turning up and down all the way through a film!
Hope you can help, I am new to sound systems.
Thanks a lot
