Question Cambridge azur 851 output issue

I purchased yesterday azur 851a. It was working perfectly last night albeit the lcd needs replacing. Today without anything altering at all or being moved I have lost speaker output on the left hand speaker output.
Connected is pro-ject vinyl deck into pro-ject tube box s2. This feeds then directly into 1 x source input on the back of the amp.
All connections tested etc. speakers not at fault and tube box brand new and working last night. Tested that and it’s fine.
Basically cannot get any sound output out of the left hand speaker output. I’ve checked the balance and it makes zero difference . AB speaker output button makes no difference. I’ve now connected both speakers direct to speaker output both right channels on AB . Both speakers work but obviously only sending right hand speaker output. Can anyone help ? Surely the amp can’t have failed after one use . Worked fine for hours yesterday

Where did you purchase it from??
For starters you have the speakers wired incorrectly.
One appears to be attached to speaker A and the other to speaker B as you say but why?
Sort that out first. Try using the correct left and right channels of either A or B.
If neither of the Left channels work something is amiss in the amp and I would be returning it.
Speaker A left and right are the top four speaker binding posts.
No idea how you managed to get that to work before.

I’ve wired it that way to make sure the speakers are good. Previously it was wired correctly into left and right. Left on A and left on B both don’t work. Bizarrely it was working fine for hours yesterday. Nothings changed , it just was turned off and back on. It was a used eBay purchase but I was satisfied as I saw it working and it worked as I say yesterday for hours. What could have failed in the amp? Thanks

One of several things Matt....in the same way as the LCD has failed.

I know the Tube box is new and that you tested it....so you've confirmed both channels are coming out of it ok, by swapping left and right RCA plugs on the Azur input?

It sounds dodgy to me. Working but the LCD isn't??
Send it back.
Do you have anything else like a CD player to test it with?
Not too sure about internal fuses on that amp without a manual but assume if one had gone it would affect both channels.
have you tried plugging preamp into another pair of input sockets?
Looking again at your photos, is that left channel plug all the way in? It seems to be protruding a bit.

Yes I’ve done all the basic switching of inputs outputs etc. the lcd works but just lost some pixels etc. I’m sure the problem is the amp channel left output. Just no idea why it would fail . Working for hours yesterday - power it down, little troop to the pub and when I return I power it back up and lost a channel. Makes no sense ?

LCD is just a bit pixelated and needs repairing that’s all. Tested all inputs outputs etc I’m convinced the left channel has suddenly failed for some reason. It’s only the left channel that’s failed. I’m guessing each channel is fused separately. But all I did was turn it off and back on a few hours later. Very odd. I heard it working when with the seller. I used it last night for a few hours before it failed. I’ve put another source in and that replicates the fault so I no it’s not the source. lve switched source inputs to no difference

Which leaves you with a choice of options.
1) Back to seller in case he forgot to mention an intermittent left channel fault.
2) Open it up for a look inside.

Most people would (rightly) take option 1.
Option 2 could show something visibly obvious, otherwise you need to know what you're doing.
(Checking the Azur's pre/tape outputs would narrow down failure to the pre or power amp section within the amp.....but that may not help you).

EBay sadly . Not a leg to stand on really as was working fine when tested . I’m gonna have to take it to an electronics repair shop local who’s a whizz - hopefully he will find something. Thanks

Bizarrely it has suddenly started working having altered nothing. Must be an intermittent fault?? Seems very odd and surely it’ll either work or it won’t. I have noticed source input number 4 doesn’t work but other than that currently it’s working!! For how long who knows. Finding an intermitttent fault even harder to track

Next time the channel goes dead, plug in and out of the headphone socket and see if that restores it (and note whether both channels are present on the headphones).
