I am looking for suggestions to replace a Cambridge 540R v1. I've just ordered a blu-ray player - a Sony BDP 360. I was going to get the more expensive Sony player with 7.1 Analog phono outputs, but since this adds another £200 to the price tag and I don't need the Wifi. I reckoned it would be better to get the cheaper player and swap the 540R for a new amp that handles the latest HD formats.
The amp should cost under £300, obviously handle the new HD formats and have auto setup/calibration. Also pre-outs are a must as I am using a Cambridge 840A for stereo driving the two front speakers. Finally sound must be on a par with the outgoing 540R.
