With regards to the WHF review of the Caiman, was the review based more on the DAC capabilities or was the preamp section given a good workout too?
I am soon to receive my Dynaudio monitors and am thinking of perhaps offloading my MF A3 amp and replacing it with a Caiman for DAC/Preamp duties.
This would enable me to play FLAC files from a netbook through a wired network with minimal boxes, but is the sound quality likely to be affected that much?
Also, are there any alternatives to the Caiman, with Preamp capabilities in mind, ideally with remote control? Budget is to around £350 max.
