If i want Freesat i will need to take the signal from a neighbours dish,i think that this will mean changing the LNB to at least 2.The other possible problem is that the cable run will be approx.35/ 40 mtrs.

Will the signal degade a lot over that sort of distance & be an issue. The reason i'm thinking about it is because i've read that the HD picture through the dish is better than the aerial. As i'm thinking of getting the Panasonic G20 which has freesat & Freeview Hd tuners i thought i'd ask the question before doing anything about it.

The SD freeview picture is fine,no problems

Provided you use satellite grade cable, i.e good quality 75ohm double screened cable such as Webro WF100 then the losses at 35/40m wont be an issue. If the run is going to be 60+ metres then i'd recommend going for the larger Webro WF125 which has slightly lower losses.

However, a word of warning, if you're going to be sharing a dish with a neighbour then the LNB/Cables MUST be earth bonded (via connection through an earth bonding plate).

If the equipment isn't earth bonded, and you and your neighbour happen be on different electrical phases(fed from different mains supplies) and a fault occurs in either property, then there is a risk of a 450v shock!

If at all possible i'd recommend having you're own dish fitted-Will probably work out cheaper and eliminates the hassle of having to get in an qualified sparks to carry out the electrical work.

Things to think about now, would much prefer my own dish, will look deeper into that now & had absolutely no idea about the bonding & mains supply. As you say could do without extra hassle.

Thanks
