Evening folks,

I'm in the process of getting some new bits for my setup and upgrading my Blu ray player. I've been looking at the marantz 7006 to replace my CA 650bd and to match my reciever. Before i start trying to organise a demo of this particuar product. Would this be considered a definite all round upgrade or more of a side step???

Thanks, Rick.

Depends on your priorities, do you value picture quality? If so yes the UD7006 will be a good step up, but in your case it may not warrant the extra cost.

Also note in months ahead the UD7006 will be replaced by a newer model, where it should then be had for a song - by all accounts it is an excellent player in all regards, bar perhaps streaming (but then none are really great here anyway).

I would hold on to the 650BD for now - unless there's something you're not really happy with?

Thanks for the reply,

I'm looking for a boost in picture quality and sound in both movie and cd playback. I may just hang on and see what comes out in the months to follow but I'm guessing the newer model will be priced much higher at a similar price as this model when it was released.

I'd go for the UD7006 then, but shop around for the best prices, I think a fair bargain should be had. An interesting thing about the Marantz/Denon players is that they use the Anchor Bay video processors as opposed to the currently popular Marvell ones.

But please demo one first - as it has a few *minor* quirks.
