Hi fellas, I've decided to add a proper amp to my setup instead of using the sony reciever and decided to stay with Cambridge audio. I've been lookin at the 650A but just wanted to know if people had any of these two products and if they thoought it's worth payin the extra £150 and going for 740A ???

Yes, definately. Build quality and sound quality are significantly better on the 740 compared to the 650, which still looks and sounds like a budget amp.

hello to you,

i havnt heard the 650 amp but i have the 740A and my pop has the 640A and would choose his over the 740 any day! its a much more open sounding amp... exciting where as the 740 is oh so sensible! its also a bit too bright in the upper levels.

hope it helps

Ooops, I was thinking of the 640. John, any ideas about my Airport Express question?

Agreed, I think the 640 looked very cheap and it always put me off them, whereas I think the 650 is another step up in build quality altogether. And some magazines (for others do exist) rate it highly enough to make it their system of the year (where it costs about as much as their interconnect of the year). So I think it's certainly worth a look. Especially since the 740 will be a different shade of black to the OP's 650BD. I was on the verge of getting a 650BD and 650A as my main system for both music and films until the office NaimUniti became available on loan

I'll respond to the AE question in the thread, CS.
