I currently want to buy the Sony KDL40-Z4500. I’m just unsure from whom, as I am spending a lot of money I really just want assurance that if something went wrong I can get it sorted and that I am not buying grey material.

Options available:

1. RGB Hi-Fi & Video - £1,120.00 – 5 years warranty

2. Amazon - £1,142.99 – 3 years warranty

3. Arena Electronics (Tottenham Court Road) - £1270 – 3 years

4. McDonald’s Electronics ( Oxford Street) - £1240 – 3 years

5. Sony Shop - £1350 – 3 years

Please advice.

Many thanks!!!

i had a look and martin dawes dont have them , i couldnt comment on the sellers you mentioned , if you dont need to buy in a hurry maybe you could wait for some of the retailers on here to pick up this thread , id say mathewpiano ( forum member who sells sonys) may be of help , he would know what was a good deal for a sony .... and may have them in his store ??

I'm actually going to keep out of this one. My views on pricing and getting a good deal are intrisically tied up with my professional life and may be seen as advertising/promotion.

All I will say is that I would always strongly advocate buying from a bricks and mortar retailer who has proved themself by being prepared to spend proper time demonstrating and discussing the product with you prior to purchase. The cheapest price isn't always the best value for money.

do you live near any of the high st stores you mentioned ? if you do then why dont you ask them about their procedures in the event of problems with the tv ? if you were promised a decent tv to watch while checks and or repairs were being carried out , and you have transport ,or they agree to collect while delivering a replacment , then paying a little more may be worth it , if the warranty was the same , you wouldnt be without a tv , if they agreed ....
