Buying a new TV (LCD or Plasma) in the US

I am probably going to buy a Sony 40" LCD (although I will wait until the end of Sept to decide). I will be in the US towards the end of the month. If I bought it in the US, would it sill work the same in the UK?

Apart from the TV tuner not working at all, the need for a step-down transformer - for which budget £100 or so with the potential of nasty effects on the picture quality -, the chance of damage in transit, not to mention it costing a fortune to bring back, the 22% or so VAT and duty you'll get hit with when you bring it into the UK and the potential problems should it go wrong, it'll be just fine.

I think not - just too much hassle, both real and potential, for the savings you'll make

There is also the fact that it would not be covered by any warrantry here in the UK if it were to go wrong.
