Hi!

I am looking into buying a new AV receiver as my old one is a 5.1 Tehcnics from the end of the 90's. I have looked into variety of different products and I can't really make out, wich one is superior to the others. Price-wise all of these are between 600-700 $, so no difference there. So the question is, wich one the followoing receivers is the best (sound, quality, durability etc.). Hope you guys can help me because my brains are basicaly melting from searching around the internet not finding any substantial evidence to capture the winner. TY!: Yamaha RX-A830 Yamaha RX-A1020 Marantz SR5008 Marantz SR6007 Denon AVR-X3000 Harman Kardon 3650 Sony STR-DA1800ES

Right now I have 2 Sonab/JWS C31XL, 2 Jamo PP2504, a JBL active sub, and some Technics surround speakers which came with the receiver.
But I am looking into updating my speakers aswell so that basically doesn't affect the choice aswell.

There's something known as system synergy. Every AV receiver has its own sound signature, and sound different to one another depending on the speakers. I would suggest getting the AV receiver and speakers together. Yamaha's Aventage range of receivers are brilliant, and RX-A1020/1030 is a good place to start. Good luck!

I can only recommend what I've heard extensively. I found something lacking in the Denon, and Yamaha to be superior to the Marantz in movies. Bear in mind that I've never heard Klipsch speakers, so they may sound different to my experience. Best option is to demo the systems.

Well that settles it with Marantz and Denon. And the Klipsch speakers were just a thought right now. Speakers I can choose later depending on the rest of the system. Maybe someone else has some experience with H/K and Sony?
