Find a dealer and go and have a listen. Pathos sounded nice at the Bristol Show.

Wasted even.

For a new devotee the Prima Luna range are probably the most user friendly.

Only mentioned reposting as you will get more responses if placed in the correction location on this forum.

There aren't too many of us that frequent the 'Turntables and LP's nay Vinyl' section .................... :rofl:

Thanks for the advice, for someone who is ICT savvy, I have no experience of forums etc! I did place a post in the main section did not receive many responses but then I was a bit vague.

Budget is a tricky one as I am prepared to save and wait. However I will be at the budget end and I know this is not really valve compatible but I would probably aim to spend around £600 on each component but multiples of that are possible. On the other hand, what is the best component to start with? I was initially looking at power amps then thought about pre-amps and now have no idea where to turn. The advice I am looking for at the moment is which component is best to start with? All advice and ideas is MUCHLY appreciated.

My advice is to forget about individual components.

Visit few specialist dealers and listen to their complete systems that fall in your budget. Take your music with you and just sit and listen.

There will be different approaches to reproduced music and you will enjoy some systems more than others. It took good dealers many years to find what really works good together. Just buy complete system from one dealer and forget about, what if... I change this or that. Most likely, if you change one thing, everything will fall apart.

Your budget is big enough and you should find something very special and pleasing for you.

For start, try to find a dealer who stock Rega/Naim + Kudos and some other speakers (perhaps Spendor, KEF, PMC), and another that has Croft + Harbeth. Then find a dealer with e.g. Dynaudio speakers and listen to his system. After this 3 visits you will know much more.

Good advice - I live 200 miles from any dealers but I think what I will do is just treat it as a long term project as I am in no rush and currently building a vinyl collection after buying loads of CDs. I suppose over time I can save more money also.
