Hi there!

I'm on a very limited budget and want to improve my current hifi setup.

I'm looking for an amp that will power 4 x JBL Control 1 speakers with music played from Google Play on a tablet via a Chromecast Audio.

I'd like to spend less than £200. Any suggestions?

It's not audiophile territory I know, but is the Chromecast via the optical out as cheap a solution as there is or would an amp without the optical in and a cheap DAC be a better option?

Many thanks for any opinions.

First amp that comes to mind is the Yamaha RN-301 network receiver. Just over budget (£219 or so) but it seems to tick all of the boxes and is a very flexible unit.

Thanks. Interesting.

I'd been looking at the Cambridge Audio Azur 351A with the Chromecast (since learned that it has a AKM AK4430 192kHz 24-Bit Stereo DAC).

I'll look into how the Yamaha performs with Android and Google Play Music, but it's definetly worth a look as long term I was considering a NAS.
