Hello,

In the near future i am looking to get some sort of speakers to compliment my monitor. These would be primarily fed through my PC with lossless music and high definition movies. I am also looking to be able to connect my xbox to the system.

I am currently using the pcs built in soundcard with some 2.1 creative pc speakers, and i am am left wanting more.

I have a fairly tight budget for this, with everything needing to fall the lower side of £200

I am interested in the maximum soundquality and volume i can get for this kind of money.

All thoughs comments and reccomendations would be very helpful.

Thanks

Dean

Welcome to the forums, Dean!

Look at the Pro-Ject USB Box (Superfi sell it cheaply) for the soundcard/DAC - then you should look at these which are excellent! Then spend about £10 on a decent phono connector (QED Qunex 1, for example) and get yourself one of these.

Job Done.

Volume wise how do these speakers perform? The room they are going in is fairly large, and they may be destined for taking on the job for a few partys.
Thanks for the speedy replys too

I wouldn't want to be trying to get party levels out of either solution if I'm being honest. For filling a large room you're going to have to go second hand.

I'd be looking at a vintage JVC, Pioneer or Sansui amp with something like Mission 760s or KEF Coda 7s.

I have no objections to searching for second hand, any specifics you can direct me towards for things like power output?

Actually, although I didn't mention them before, I'd be looking for a Kenwood KA3020SE amplifier and either the Mission or KEF speakers mentioned in my previous post. Another alternative would be a Pioneer A400 or an Arcam Alpha 8, again with either the Missions or the KEFs. The little Coda 7s are particularly fun speakers and would suit your various uses down to the ground.
